Opening a new attraction can be an exciting and nerve wracking time. Here's how we recommend approaching it on Morty to optimize your launch:

Concept phase

No opening date yet? You've got nothing to do. Since we know new attractions can take years to build (πŸ˜…) we won't list it until it's 1-2 months away from opening.

1-2 months from opening

Once you have the attraction listed on your website, and it's set to open in <2 months we would love to get it listed:

  1. Claim your business if you haven't already done so.

  2. In the Morty for Business dashboard, click Add Attraction and enter the details and images.

🚨 If you include an Opening Date, note that an announcement to Morty users will go out around this time, so be sure to update the date on Morty if it changes.

2 weeks from opening

  1. Update attraction information and images via the Morty for Business dashboard.

  2. If you enter an Opening Date, a notification about your new attraction will go out the week of opening. This notification can reach thousands of people, depending on your region.

    1. If you're part of the Partner Program the notification's reach and effectiveness will be increased, and friction at checkout will be decreased.

🚨 Please carefully consider which Opening Date you use on Morty.

The most experienced and enthusiastic users are likely to see the "New attraction" notification, and rush out to experience what you've created. But the most experienced users can oftentimes be the most critical. Which can result in a "hug of death."

If you think you might need a few weeks or months to polish the experience before sending in the veterans, you might want to push your Morty opening date a week or two.

⛔️ Also note: once an attraction is listed, it can be rated!

If you don't want beta testers to rate your incomplete experience we recommend specifically asking them not to review your attraction publicly.

If you make this clear to them, then at your request the Morty team can remove all ratings of the experience before its official opening date.

On the other hand, if it's not clear to testers up front then we may not be able to remove these reviews. Please consider letting them know!

We're open!

Congratulations! Now you'll want to:

  1. Monitor the ratings you're receiving and reply to reviews. If you've claimed your business you'll get new rating notifications automatically.

  2. Ask for more ratings! We're happy to mail you materials to make this easier. Owners who mention Morty tend to get way more ratings and drive a significant amount of business.

  3. Remember that even the best games in the world have some negative ratings on Morty, and our audience is more discerning than Google Maps/Yelp. That's ok! More ratings will even things out and things will look different once you have 30+ ratings!

As always, the Morty team is here and happy to help if you have any questions. πŸ˜ƒ
